Meet Enzo Sponsored by The Michele Family
When we first arrived in Uruguay, I gave our contact information to a local rescue organization so that we could begin fostering, as we had done for years in the U.S. Shortly after, a vacationing couple had been instructed to bring us a puppy they had found in the trash, next to an open paint can. We eagerly embraced this tiny little blond haired boy and awaited further instructions. It was then that we learned that there was no plan and that what we had consented to was to find anyone who would take the puppy, un-neutered, un-vaccinated and without even knowing whether or not he already been exposed to the deadly Parvo virus that is rampant here. Days turned to months and it slowly became clear that Enzo, named by a little boy up the street, was not going anywhere. As he neared 6 months, we had him neutered and after bringing home from the vet, proclaimed him as officially adopted.
While he was at first stunned to learn that he too, had been a trash dumped puppy, he immediately rose to the task of teaching the new pups that we rescue here, all about being a great dog.

Poor little Enzo was dumped in the trash next to an open can of paint. It took about a month for his fur to grow out.

Enzo was only a few weeks old when he arrived, so naturally he assumed he was born into the family. However, he adjusted quickly to the news that he was a rescue puppy too.

This was the first time we had ever fostered a single pup and we enjoyed having time to indulge him.

Enzo is a great help to us here at RROU and he seems to understand that it is his job to teach the new babies. The puppies love him!
